For years, Cheve-Ann Boucher and Chadde Bryan crossed paths at church and served together at Christian youth camps. But everything changed in 2019 when they returned from camp that summer and arranged a picnic date. Sparks flew, and nearly seven years later, the couple entered holy matrimony

“I always thought that Cheve-Ann was graceful, classy, in a universe all by herself and far out of my reach, even when it came to friendship,” Chadde told Island Wedding.

They moved in different social circles, but their worlds continued to collide every summer at junior camp, where they grew more acquainted. Realising she was more down-to-earth than he had expected came as a welcome surprise.

As for Cheve-Ann, she initially found Chadde a bit quirky, but his caring and thoughtful nature quickly stood out. Over time, as they grew closer, she came to appreciate his character, meekness and determination, which she grew to deeply admire and love.

Chadde was a breath of fresh air, Cheve-Ann recalled of their fateful picnic at Hope Gardens. To this day, August 24 remains one of her most cherished memories, when the sparks she felt during their week of service at camp that summer were confirmed and he asked her to be his girlfriend.

An ardent admirer of Chadde’s loving nature, Cheve-Ann continues to be captivated by his loyalty, thoughtfulness and mindfulness.

“Loving like God does, he is a leader and a firm believer of serving others over himself. He hears, sees and notices things, and has a big heart,” she shared. Chadde, she continued, brings out the best in her and has allowed her to embrace her soft girl era.

“Growing up in a single parent household, as the last of four children, I was raised to be very independent and strong-willed. When Chadde and I started courting, it took some major adjustments on my part to allow him to lead and take on certain roles as the man in my life,” she said, adding, “He reminds me constantly that it’s okay to depend on others and that I should step back and depend on my community.” Additionally, he stands proudly as the voice of reason in her life.

Having found his soulmate, Chadde continues to admire Cheve-Ann’s beauty, elegance, creativity, virtue and keen attention to detail.

“She has pushed me to be a better, more intentional and proactive leader in every sense of the word. Her first priority is my comfort and peace of mind with any decision or action. She constantly tries to make room for communication and loving service,” he highlighted.

Wherever there is a body of water and a beautiful view, you can find these lovebirds spending time together. “We love going on adventures out of town and eating out together. We also like to serve in church together,” Cheve-Ann added.

After nearly six years of courting, Chadde proposed to the love of his life during an adventurous weekend celebration, just one day shy of their dating anniversary.

“On the day of popping the question, we spent the morning at the beach, having a picnic with a charcuterie board that I asked her to create, while listening to a playlist that I also asked her to make. From there, we went home and got ready to attend the Grace Food Festival in Hope [Botanical] Gardens for the evening. After leaving that event, we ended the night by going to our favourite lookout spot, Skyline Lookout,” he recalled.

A media crew was already set up nearby, strategically hidden for the occasion. Under the stars, the couple sat on benches and exchanged gifts, during which Cheve-Ann began to realise the surprise unfolding.

“While she read the story that accompanied my gift for her, she quickly realised the direction that things were heading in. By then, I was already on one knee, and eagerly awaiting her awestruck gaze and my chance to ask her the all important question. And as fate would have it, she said yes,” he said.

DREAM WEDDING

In preparing for the wedding of their dreams, the couple planned the main event with the help of an event coordinator. “Our family, friends and church family all pitched in and made the wedding a beautiful day,” the bride shared.

Shopping around for her ideal dress, she explored two locations. In the end, she said yes to a ballgown dress from Unions Bridal Boutique.

“The boutique was very accommodating. Fun fact, I had a different veil. However, one of the ladies there asked me what my accessories were and I told her pearls. She was inspired by a beautiful pearl veil the store had recently got and when I tried it on, the rest was history,” she said.

On March 21, specially invited guests gathered at the Church of God of Prophecy in Naggo Head, St Catherine, to witness the union of Chadde and Cheve-Ann. The newly-weds later celebrated at a reception held at the Caribbean Estate Multi-Purpose Centre in the parish.

For the groom, the day exceeded all expectations. “It was so much more than I had hoped for because my wife loved it, and that gets my seal of approval any day,” he shared, adding that the moment he turned and saw his bride walking up the aisle will be etched in his mind forever.

Friends were equally impressed by the ceremony and reception, and for the bride, it was everything she had dreamed of. “My favourite moment is the spirited praise and worship segment that we decided to include in the occasion,” Mrs Boucher-Bryan added.
