Infiniti Co-operative Credit Union Jamaica Ltd has awarded a total of 128 scholarships valued at $7 million to students at the primary, high and tertiary levels islandwide.

This marks the inaugural presentation of awards under the newly formed Infiniti Co-operative Credit Union which is an amalgamation of EduCom and Gateway Co-operative Credit Unions. The new scholarship programme is centred on maintaining and gradually expanding the current scholarship offerings available to members and their children, which underscores the emphasis the Credit Union places on education being one of the avenues for success.

Speaking at the presentation of awards in Kingston on August 22, Camille Campbell Drummond, chief executive officer, says the goal was to merge scholarships from both credit unions rather than reduce the quantity or value. “Our goal was never to reduce the number or value of scholarships, but to unify the legacy and impact of both credit unions into a stronger programme. The consolidation under Infiniti ensures that we not only preserve the legacy of the stalwarts from Gateway and EduCom but also expand opportunities available to students. This year, we’re especially proud to introduce the inaugural High School Open Scholarship, which is an extension of our commitment that allows our former PEP scholars to continue receiving support up to fifth form, provided they maintain the required academic standards.

With our increased reach and resources, we’ve been able to assist even more students with taking meaningful steps toward their goals. That impact, and the dreams we’re making possible, is one of the most rewarding highlights of our year so far.”

The scholarships granted for the 2025/2026 academic year will allow students to pursue studies at the University of the West Indies, The University of Technology, various Community and Teachers’ Colleges, as well as at several high schools.

Of the 128 scholarships granted for the new academic year, 70 of the recipients were PEP awardees with 30 former PEP scholars receiving the High School Open Scholarship. At the tertiary level, the Scholarships will allow 28 students to pursue degree courses.
