A 55-year-old Ocho Rios, St Ann man has been charged for allegedly pulling a gun and threatening a pump attendant and a security guard at a gas station in Discovery Bay.
Gary Ferguson, a construction worker of Great Pond, is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and assault at common law.
Reports from the St Ann police are that about 11:50 a.m. Monday, September 15, Ferguson drove and parked a motor car at a gas station pump, where a disagreement developed between him and a pump attendant.
It is alleged that during the altercation, Ferguson pulled a firearm from his pocket, pointed it at the attendant, and threatened her.
The attendant, fearing for her life, ran to a nearby store and raised an alarm, alerting the store supervisor and security guard on duty.
Ferguson allegedly confronted the security guard, whom he believed was recording the incident, brandished the firearm again, and pointed it in the guard’s face before grabbing the guard’s phone and uttering threatening words.
After the ordeal, Ferguson entered his vehicle and drove off.
The police were alerted, and Ferguson’s vehicle was intercepted.
According to the police, a 45MM pistol was seized, and Ferguson was taken into custody.
He was formally charged on Friday, October 3, following statements collected that implicated him in the incident.
A court date is being finalised for him.
