Transport Minister Daryl Vaz says 13 Hurricane Melissa relief flights are expected into Jamaica today with supplies.

Nine flights will arrive at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, two at the Ian Fleming International Airport in St Mary, and two at the Sangster International Airport in St James.

Norman Manley and Ian Fleming reopened yesterday for relief flights and commercial flights started this morning.

Only relief flights are being undertaken at Sangster at the time, but Vaz said an announcement is to be made on passenger flights.

A section of the airport suffered damage during the passage of Melissa.

Vaz said the government is aiming to get the unaffected sections operational for commercial flights.
