Minister of Information Senator Dr Dana Morris Dixon on Friday said that the death total from Hurricane Melissa remains at 19 but that the figure could rise as more bodies have been found.

“We have been told that they may be four bodies in Westmoreland and another one in St Elizabeth but until the security forces get into the area and confirm the figure remains at 19,” she said.

The Minister was speaking at the daily press briefing at Jamaica house.

“We do expect that that number will change today,” she told Friday’s news conference.

Morris Dixon said that there search and rescue efforts are ongoing.
