VMBS accelerates reopening of branches, ABM availability following Melissa

The VM Building Society says it is working to get all its operations up and running following Hurricane Melissa, noting that the majority of its branches are offering limited services and that most ABMs are operational.

The company says it has reopened 75% of its locations across the island, including the Fairview branch in Montego Bay, to support communities most heavily affected by the storm.

It says All open locations are operating on a phased basis from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with additional branches to reopen as conditions allow.

“We know that many of our members and their families, particularly in the west, continue to face serious challenges. Our teams are working tirelessly to restore services safely and to ensure that members can access the support they need. VM has always stood with Jamaica, and we’ll continue to do so now,” said Chief Executive Officer of VM Building Society, Paul Elliott.Branches that are open are currently facilitating deposits, withdrawals and credit card support.

At present, 64% of VM’s ABMs (25 of 39 machines) are operational across the island.

The company says teams continue to work closely with service partners to restore the remaining machines as network connectivity improves.

“Our team members across the island have also been affected, and many are working through challenging circumstances. We thank them for their commitment and resilience as they continue to serve Members during this recovery period,” said Elliott.

Meanwhile, the VM Foundation continues to mobilise support for affected communities, including emergency care packages and coordination with relief partners in heavily impacted areas.

“Together, as one VM family, we will recover and rebuild stronger,” Elliott added.
