The Government is to undertake a national clean-up programme as part of post-hurricane efforts.
Minister of Local Government Desmond McKenzie told a special press briefing on Monday at Jamaica House that the exercise will be led by the National Solid Waste Management Authority and will include the National Works Agency, the Tourism Product Development Company Limited (TPDCo), and the Ministry of Education.
Further, McKenzie says the Social Development Commission will coordinate community activities as part of the clean-up.
He says the exercise will take place in every community across Jamaica and the details are to be announced later this week.
“This will be a call for national duty for national response,” said McKenzie.
“The country will require the full support, the full participation of all Jamaicans in this exercise,” he added.
