Water restored to more communities in St Elizabeth and Manchester

The National Water Commission (NWC) says water has been restored to more communities in St Elizabeth and Manchester amid Hurricane Melissa.

The NWC says customers in Porus, Williamsfield, Kendal and environs in Manchester are now receiving water supply after Jamaica Public Service (JPS) power supply was restored at its Broadleaf, Comfort, and Porus facilities.Areas being supplied include Porus, Trinity, Red Berry, Comfort, Broadleaf, Royal Flat, Williamsfield, Melrose Mews, Land Settlement, Melrose Mews Housing Scheme, Hanbury, Kendal, New Green, Ingleside, section of Grey Ground, Grove Place, Tree Chains, Patrick Road, Gordon Road, Cypclair Close, Bonitto Crescent, Crest Haven, and Dorby

Over in St Elizabeth, the NWC’s Luana Deep Well, Newell Deep Well and Old Pepper Well are being powered by generators, allowing for the supply of water to communities.

The areas being served are Luana, Sections of Black River, Point, Middle Quarters, Bailey Ground, New Holland, Cragie, Spring Park, Pond Pen, and Baptist.

Also getting water are Treasure Beach, Bluntas, Beacon, Ridge Pen, Newcombe Valley, Watchwell, Lewis Town, and Billy's Bay.

And Pepper, New Castle, Lucky Valley, Ruinett, Phantiland, Grosmond, Goshen, Bongo Hill, Content, and Wilton are also being supplied.

The NWC says loading bays have been set up at the Luana and Old Pepper plants to facilitate the filling of water trucks.

Plans are in place to restart operations at the Dalintober and Bogue Wells via generators once the roads to these facilities have been cleared.
