Kingston Wharves Limited is reporting that it is offering a 10% discount on shipments designated by Jamaica Customs as disaster relief, as it plays its part in Jamaica’s recovery from Hurricane Melissa.
The company says the discount applies to warehouse handling and stripping charges for individuals, companies, and registered charities through November 30.
“Our port facilities are the gateway for essential aid, and our logistics teams are working closely with government partners like the JDF [Jamaica Defence Force] to ensure supplies move quickly and efficiently from ship to community. We are fully committed to supporting the national effort, including the relief, recovery, and rebuilding phases in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa,” said Kingston Wharves CEO Mark Williams.
Additionally, the company says it is facilitating the use of its terminal for the berthing of vessels carrying relief supplies from the region and globally, and providing an on-port transit warehouse for the storage of relief supplies for later distribution by the JDF to their logistics warehouses at locations around the island.
Further, the company says it has activated its in-house call centre to serve as a communication liaison for persons overseas seeking information on the relief effort in Jamaica.
“Our call centre personnel have been equipped with the relevant information to guide callers on how to ship to Jamaica, the proper channels for donations, and to manage general inquiries,” Williams stated.
He said Kingston Wharves is committed to partnering with the Government in its hurricane relief effort in response to Hurricane Melissa.
