The Court Administration Division is advising that a clean-up and relief exercise is being undertaken at courts in western parishes that are affected by Hurricane Melissa.

The division says teams will be deployed to Hanover, St James and Trelawny today to assist with the clean-up of court facilities and surrounding areas, working to restore operations and provide meaningful support to affected staff.

As a result, the Supreme Court in Kingston and the parish courts in Portland, St Mary, Clarendon, and St Thomas will be closed today.

The division says there will be skeletal staff to facilitate emergency issues as the need arises.

All courts will be reopened on Thursday, November 6.
