The Transport Authority says it effected 52 prosecutions in the first three days since it began cracking down on the overcharging of fares following Hurricane Melissa.
It said 32 motor vehicles were also seized in its 'Operation Reset', which was launched on Monday.
Managing Director at the Authority, Ralston Smith, says the Authority will ramp up its operations across the island to stamp the illegal practice of overcharging of fares.
As such, operators who continue to overcharge passengers could have their road licences suspended or revoked, he says.
In the meantime, commuters are being encouraged to assist the Authority in cracking down on this practice by reporting incidents of overcharging by calling (876) 926-8912 or WhatsApp (876) 551-8196 and providing the licence plate numbers and the routes for the vehicles.
Persons may also send the images or videos of the vehicles in which you experience overcharging.
