Manchester man shot dead in alleged police confrontation

The Independent Commission of Investigation has launched a probe into the matter.

Manchester resident Omer 'John Crow' Campbell was shot and killed in an alleged confrontation with police in Porus, Manchester, on Thursday.

Police reported that an illegal firearm and ammunition were seized from Campbell during the incident.

According to reports, at around 5:45 a.m., officers entered the Trinity area of Porus in search of alleged gunmen. Campbell was accosted and reportedly challenged the police, who then fired in self-defence, hitting him.

Authorities seized one Hi-Point Model C 9MM pistol affixed with a magazine containing three rounds of ammunition.

Campbell was transported to Mandeville Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Independent Commission of Investigation has launched a probe into the matter.
