Woman robbed by men posing as taxi driver and passenger in St Catherine

The police in St Catherine are investigating an incident in which a woman was robbed on Saturday by men posing as a taxi driver and a passenger.
According to a police report, the 63-year-old woman was robbed of almost $40,000.
Reports are that about 9:50 a.m., the woman was travelling to Spanish Town when she boarded a car marked as a taxi in Sligoville, St Catherine.
While on the journey, the driver reportedly diverted from the route, and the male passenger then brandished a machete and placed it at the woman’s neck.
She was robbed of her belongings and cash, including US$100 and J$20,000.
The driver reportedly proceeded to the Lakes Pen community, where the woman was forced from the vehicle and threatened.
The assailants then drove away.
A report was subsequently made to the Spanish Town police.
