A St Thomas man accused of fatally punching a senior citizen also died after falling while attempting to flee the scene on Tuesday.
The incident has prompted detectives in the St Thomas division to investigate two cases - homicide and death by misadventure - arising from the single event.
The deceased are 75-year-old Joseph Douglas and 33-year-old Troy Beckford, both of Debtor Lane, Seaforth, St Thomas.
It's reported that at around 1:30 p.m., Douglas and Beckford had a disagreement that escalated into a physical altercation. During the confrontation, Beckford allegedly punched Douglas, causing him to fall to the ground.
Beckford reportedly attempted to flee the scene but fell and suffered injuries.
Both men were taken to Princess Margaret Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The Morant Bay Criminal Investigation Branch is conducting a probe into both matters.
