Woman killed and her mother wounded in Patrick City gun attack, husband being sought

A woman was this morning killed and her mother was wounded in a gun attack after arriving at their home in Patrick City, St Andrew from the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.

Investigators are seeking the husband of the injured woman.

The deceased woman has been identified by the police as 26-year-old Maya Ashley.

Her mother remains hospitalised.

The police report that about 4:45 Friday morning, the two women arrived at their Appleton Avenue home after the daughter reportedly picked up her mother from the airport.

Explosions were heard and the two were found suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both victims were rushed to hospital, where the daughter succumbed to her injuries and her mother was admitted.

Police sources indicate that the attack may have been carried out by someone known to the victims, but investigators are still pursuing several leads.

The Hunts Bay police are investigating the incident.
