St James man charged after illegal gun allegedly found at his home, say police

A St James man has been charged after police allegedly seized an illegal firearm and ammunition during a search of his home on Friday.
Detectives assigned to the St James police division laid charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition against 56-year-old Clifton Clarke of Harlot Drive, Paradise Crescent in the parish, a statement said.
According to the police, officers from the Barnett Street Police Station, acting on information, searched Clarke’s premises at about 4 p.m.
During the operation, a Smith & Wesson .380 revolver loaded with two 9mm cartridges was allegedly found.
Clarke was subsequently arrested and later charged in relation to the seizure.
