Another cold front to affect Jamaica this weekend

Jamaicans are being advised to brace for unsettled weather over the next several days as a trough and another cold front are expected to affect conditions across the island.

A trough across the western Caribbean is forecast to move across the island late Tuesday night and linger through Thursday, the Meteorological Service of Jamaica said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The system is expected to produce cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms, which could be heavy at times, particularly across northern parishes from early Wednesday through Thursday.

The Met Service also advised that another cold front is projected to affect Jamaica on Friday.

While the system is expected to be weaker than the current weather pattern, it is forecast to bring cooler temperatures and strong, gusty winds on Friday and into the weekend, especially in northern parishes.

Fishers and other marine interests have been urged to exercise extreme caution, as sea conditions are expected to deteriorate near showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday, and again from Friday due to strong winds.

The Meteorological Service said it will continue to monitor the systems and provide updates as conditions evolve.
