Bailiffs are evicting Rhodes Nursing Home, which houses 18 elderly residents, from a Half-Way Tree Road property in St Andrew.
Tuesday's eviction follows a Supreme Court order issued in 2022 after the property was sold, sources said.
Arrangements have been made for the 18 elderly persons to be transferred to other facilities, sources revealed.
“A place is prepared for them if they want to go,” said an official who is not authorised to speak on the matter.
The bailiffs, from the Kingston and St Andrew office, started removing furniture, appliances, and other items from the home early Tuesday.
The items were placed on the sidewalk along Half Way Tree Road.
Some of the residents sat outside the building, appearing unaware of the eviction taking place, while caregivers tried to salvage documents and personal belongings.
An observer at the scene suggested the eviction could be “a blessing in disguise,” noting concerns about conditions inside the facility.
