Alleged gang leader Courtney 'Bloodstain' Ashley’ has been charged with the murder of 25-year-old Kimarley Powell and two-year-old Tajuan Jackson after a shooting near Washington Boulevard, St Andrew, last year.
Ashley was identified at an identification parade on February 2, and formally charged on Tuesday with murder, wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorised possession of ammunition, the police said in a statement.
Ashley, of Red Hills Avenue, St Andrew, was arrested on January 12, by St Catherine South police inside Phoenix Park Village, a gated community in Portmore, St Catherine.
According to the Duhaney Park police, the shooting occurred at about 7:15 p.m. on Grenmeade Road on September 15, 2025.
Powell, a business operator known as ‘Beans,’ and the child were reportedly sitting on a bench with others when a motor vehicle drove up and an occupant opened fire.
Both Powell and Jackson were pronounced dead at hospital, while a third man sustained gunshot injuries and was admitted in stable condition, the police said.
The police have described Ashley as the “reputed leader” of the Bottom Maverley Gang and said he had been wanted in connection with several other serious cases, including the 2017 murder of Andrew Foster, an attempted contract killing in Jacks Hill in July 2025, and other shootings in the St Andrew South Division.
The police have also alleged that Ashley gave permission for his cell phone to be searched, which reportedly revealed conversations about the sale of a firearm.
They said this led to additional charges of possession of prohibited weapon, dealing in firearms without a licence, aiding and abetting, and seeking benefit through professing to have a firearm.
