Today’s proceedings in the Clansman gang trial were adjourned after one of the defendants fell ill.

In court, medical doctor Paul Robinson, who is also an accused in the matter, alerted presiding judge Justice Dale Palmer that defendant Travis Drummond was extremely ill and required urgent medical attention.

In response, Justice Palmer halted the proceedings and ordered that all defendants be medically examined before the trial resumes.

Persons, including defence attorneys and court officials, were seen hurriedly putting on their masks.

The trial was adjourned to Monday, February 9, in the Home Circuit Court, pending the outcome of the court-ordered medical assessments.

The long-awaited trial start yesterday.

Alleged gang leader Tesha Miller and 24 other individuals are on trial. All remain in custody except Dr Robinson, whose bail was extended.

Prosecutors allege that the accused were members of the Clansman Gang and engaged in multiple criminal acts in St Catherine between August 2017 and August 2022.

The charges include murder, conspiracy to murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravation, illegal possession of firearms, and illegal possession of ammunition.
