The police believe 32-year-old Tevin Sherwood may have been killed in a case of mistaken identity.

A 32-year-old man was shot and killed in Kingston on Monday in what police say may have been a case of mistaken identity.

Reports are that about 12:45 a. m., armed men drove up to a motor vehicle parked along Gordon Road off Slipe Pen Road, and opened fire.

Tevin Sherwood a resident of the community, was struck by bullets and later pronounced dead.

Investigators say Sherwood was washing the vehicle at the time of the attack and may not have been the intended target.

It is believed that the gunmen were seeking the owner of the motor car.

Residents of Gordon Road have expressed shock at the killing, describing Sherwood as a quiet individual who was not known to be involved in criminal activity or associated with violence.

In the wake of the incident, the Kingston Western Police have imposed a 48-hour curfew in sections of the division.

The curfew took effect at 6 p.m. on Monday and is scheduled to remain in force until 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Latest official police data shows that as at February 7, the Kingston Western Police Division recorded two murders.
