The National Works Agency (NWA) says it is now undertaking repair works along sections of Spanish Town Road in St Andrew.

The corridors being repaired are from Six Miles to the Weymouth Drive intersection (westbound) and from the Maxfield Avenue intersection to Portia Simpson Miller Square.

NWA Manager of Communication and Customer Services, Stephen Shaw, says the works, which began last weekend, should be completed within two months.

Under the contract, old and badly rutted sections of Spanish Town Road are being rehabilitated through a process known as milling.

Shaw says the milled sections of the corridor are being repaved.

The NWA says the new works follow similar activities undertaken in late 2025. Those works targeted the section of the road from the Weymouth Drive intersection to Portia Simpson Miller Square.

Spanish Town Road is one of the most heavily trafficked corridors in the Corporate Area, carrying more than 50,000 vehicles daily, the NWA noted.

It is one of 200 roads now being targeted under the Government’s Graded Overlay (GO) Road Rehabilitation Programme, valued at $1.7 billion.

Motorists are being advised to exercise caution in the vicinity of the works and to obey the instructions of flag persons and warning signs.
