St Andrew businessman, 36-year-old Kevaughn Black, has been charged with fraud after allegedly pocketing millions in a deal to import a motor vehicle.
The police report that the complainant expressed interest in purchasing a 2021 Toyota Hilux GR Sport motor vehicle for $8,750,000.
According to police, a down payment of $4 million in cash was made, and a receipt was issued.
He was reportedly told the vehicle would arrive within nine weeks.
On Friday, December 12, 2025, the complainant was told that the car had arrived, and a second payment of $4 million was made, police reported.
The complainant was later informed on several occasions that the vehicle was being cleared and would be ready for pick-up.
However, it was not delivered, police said.
On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the complainant was again promised the vehicle but did not receive it and requested a refund.
Black reportedly promised refunds on Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3, 2026; however, no refund was made.
The matter was then reported to police.
On Thursday, February 12, Black attended the office of the Half-Way-Tree Criminal Investigation Branch, accompanied by his attorney, where he was taken into custody and subsequently charged following a question-and-answer session.
His court date is being finalised.
