Red Hills, St Andrew man gets life imprisonment after gun and ammo found in ceiling

A St Andrew man who was found guilty over the seizure of a gun and ammunition hidden in the ceiling of his Red Hills home more than two years ago has been sentenced to life in prison.
Iyan Guzmore of Cedar Valley in Red Hills was sentenced to life imprisonment for unauthorised possession of ammunition and must serve 15 years before becoming eligible for parole.
He was also sentenced to 19 years and nine months for possession of a prohibited weapon and must serve 10 years before becoming eligible for parole.
The sentences are to run concurrently.
Sentencing was handed down in the Gun Court on Friday, February 13.
The police reported that Guzmore was arrested and charged with breaches of the Firearms Act in 2023.
They said cops from the St Andrew North police conducted an operation in the Cyprus Hall area of Red Hills, St Andrew, on November 14 that year, during which the premises occupied by Guzmore were searched.
A .38 revolver and two .38 cartridges were found in the ceiling of the home.
