Reggae Boy Cory Burke and another man were today each fined $2,000 or five days’ imprisonment on a charge of indecent language arising from an incident with the police at a football match in Portmore, St Catherine in January.
Burke and Conroy Green pleaded guilty to the offence.
A charge of disorderly conduct was withdrawn by the Crown.
Kerron Moffat and Kavel Christie, who were also charged alongside Burke and Green, pleaded not guilty to charges of disorderly conduct and indecent language.
They are scheduled to return to court on April 13.
The police reported that on the afternoon of January 25 at Ferdi Neita Park in Braeton, Portmore, St Catherine, the men were occupants of a vehicle that was blocking an entrance and causing a disturbance during a football match.
The police say cops instructed the driver to move the vehicle, but he allegedly refused.
According to the police, the occupants then exited the vehicle, behaved in a disorderly manner, and used indecent language toward the cops.
They say when officers attempted to make arrests, the men reportedly resisted and physically attacked two policemen.
Both officers sustained injuries, according to the police.
The police said additional men later joined in the assault.
Fearing for their safety, the officers fired a single round into the air, which caused the attackers to disperse, the police said.
Additional police units were called, and the accused men were later identified and taken into custody.
