The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing the fatal shooting of three men by police during an operation in Coral Gardens, St James.
The incident occurred on Thursday night.
The three deceased men have not yet been identified.
According to INDECOM, the police reported that upon visiting and entering a specified location, the team had separate encounters with the three men.
Two of the men allegedly attempted to relieve the officers of their firearms and were shot by other members of the police team, the commission reported.
The third man was reportedly pointing a firearm at the police, who stated that they fired in response to that action, it added.
“The police conveyed that two firearms were recovered at the incident scene; one from a deceased and the other from within a room in the house. No body-worn cameras were reported as being issued to or worn by any of the police officers involved in this shooting incident,” INDECOM said in a statement on Friday.
The commission said the scene was examined by its personnel and that evidential material was recovered, processed, and packaged.
The agency added that the hands of the deceased men were swabbed for gunshot residue, and their bodies photographed and sealed pending post-mortem examinations.
INDECOM also reported that 19 persons have been shot and killed by members of the security forces this month.
