A St Thomas contractor has been charged with fraudulent conversion in relation to the alleged misuse of funds entrusted to him for the purchase of a motor vehicle.

Forty-six-year-old Richard Jones, otherwise called ‘Richie,’ of Airy Castle district, was charged following an incident that reportedly occurred between Tuesday, August 19, 2025, and Monday, October 10, 2025.

According to reports from the Morant Bay police, the complainant gave Jones a total of 950,000 to purchase a motor vehicle on her behalf.

It is alleged that after acquiring the vehicle, Jones instead used it for his own personal benefit.

A report was later made to the police, and Jones was subsequently identified and positively pointed out.

He is scheduled to appear before the Morant Bay Parish Court on Wednesday, May 20.
