A 22-year-old Kingston woman has been charged with murder after inflicting fatal injuries to a man during a fight.

Shanice Dixon, of Spanish Town Road, Kingston 11, has also been charged with being armed with an offensive weapon arising from the incident that took place on Spanish Town Road on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Patrick Peterkin, otherwise called ‘Dwayne,’ of Omara Road, Kingston 10.

The Hunts Bay police say about 2:55 p.m., Dixon and Peterkin became involved in an argument that escalated into a physical altercation. It is alleged that Dixon brandished a knife and used it to inflict wounds to Peterkin’s upper body.

The police were alerted, and upon their arrival, both Peterkin and Dixon, who had sustained injuries, were taken to hospital. Peterkin was pronounced dead.

Dixon was later taken into custody and subsequently charged based on a caution statement given in the presence of her attorney.

Her court date is being finalised.
