The threat level among police personnel in Portland has been heightened following intelligence suggesting that a Corporate Area gang leader has threatened that “at least one police officer must die” in retaliation for Wednesday’s double fatal shooting of two men in the parish.
The men were killed during an operation in Sherwood Forest in East Portland, during an alleged shootout with the police.
According to a bulletin issued by National Intelligence Bureau of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, the gang leader was reportedly seen in the vicinity of the Port Antonio police station on Wednesday, hours after the double fatal shooting of 21-year-old Troy McKenzie and 21-year-old Marlon Lewis, both from Kingston addresses.
The deceased men were reportedly top tier members of a Corporate Area gang.
Police said two firearms were seized from the men in Wednesday’s early morning operation, including a silver and black Taurus G3 pistol with one magazine and three rounds and a silver and black Taurus pistol with one round in the breach.
