The Wisynco Group has announced increases in the prices of its sweetened beverages in response to the tax on non-alcoholic sweetened drinks and the rise in the Environmental Protection Levy by the Government.
The manufacturing and distribution conglomerate also cited rising raw material costs as another reason for the price adjustments.
“We have no choice but to pass on these new taxes, which become effective May 1, 2026,” Wisynco said in a notice to customers.
The price increases vary by product, with some items seeing a hike of more than $200, while others are set to rise by over $1,500.
The new prices take effect on May 1.
The Special Consumption Tax on non-alcoholic sweetened beverages is based on sugar content and carries a rate of 22 cents per gram of added sugar.
The Government has estimated that it will earn $10.1 billion from the tax.
Regarding the Environmental Protection Levy, a rate of 0.85 per cent is applied, which is expected to generate $3.6 billion in revenue.
