An event promoter was taken into custody on Saturday night following an alleged bribery incident during a police operation in St Andrew.
Reports are that a police team was carrying out an operation in a community when officers moved to shut down an illegal party.
It is alleged that during the operation, the promoter attempted to offer $10,000, reportedly two $5,000 notes, to a member of the police team in an effort to prevent the event from being shut down.
The officer reportedly refused the offer, and the individual was subsequently taken into custody.
The event was shut down by the police.
Investigations are ongoing, and the promoter is expected to face charges in relation to the incident.
Police have reiterated warnings against attempting to bribe members of the security forces, noting that such conduct is a criminal offence and will be dealt with firmly.
In a separate matter last week, a policeman was arrested following a sting operation in which he was taken into custody after allegedly receiving money inside a police station from a motorist in relation to the release of a vehicle that had been impounded after a crash.
