Jamaica has scored a major tourism and aviation victory, with Club Kingston being named the best airport lounge in Latin America and the Caribbean by global travel network Priority Pass.
Located at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, Club Kingston outperformed more than 350 airport lounges across the region to capture the ‘Lounge of the Year’ title, based on direct reviews and ratings from international travellers.
The recognition comes as Jamaica continues efforts to strengthen visitor confidence and rebuild tourism momentum following the impact of Hurricane Melissa.
Tanya Beckford, CEO of VIP Attractions Limited, operators of Club Kingston and Club Mobay, said the award was especially meaningful because it came directly from travellers.
“This recognition is incredibly special because it comes directly from the travellers we serve every day,” Beckford said. “To be recognised by global passengers in this way is a tremendous honour not only for our team, but for Jamaica.”
Club Kingston is marketed as a premium airport lounge experience rooted in authentic Jamaican hospitality, giving travellers a taste of the island’s culture, service and atmosphere before departure.
Priority Pass, owned and operated by Collinson International, is regarded as the world’s leading airport experience programme, providing access to more than 1,800 lounges and travel experiences across 841 airports in 146 countries. The company said its awards are based on more than 700,000 annual traveller reviews and surveys worldwide.
Jeremy Dalkoff, Vice President of Partnerships at Priority Pass, said Club Kingston distinguished itself through consistent service excellence.
“Club Kingston consistently delivers a standout experience for our members,” Dalkoff said. “Earning the top spot in the Latin America and Caribbean region is a remarkable accomplishment and speaks volumes about the team’s dedication to service excellence.”
For Jamaica’s tourism sector, the award is being viewed as another signal of the island’s continued competitiveness within the regional travel market, particularly at a time when destinations are aggressively competing for visitors and airlift.
Beckford said the lounge experience also serves as an extension of Jamaica’s hospitality brand.
“Every guest who walks through our doors gets a chance to experience the spirit of Jamaica before they even board their flight,” she said. “This award proves that those moments matter.”
