A St Catherine man who allegedly used a machete to chop one of his neighbours, almost severing his hand, was on Friday ordered remanded for a psychiatric evaluation to be conducted.
The accused is 29-year-old Legister Lennon of Brown's Town district, Point Hill, St Catherine.
When the matter was mentioned on Friday, the court was informed that the accused had a mental illness.
He was ordered remanded at the St Catherine Adult Correctional Centre until June 23.
It is alleged that about 12:05 p.m. on May 8, the 46-year-old complainant was at home in Brown's Town when he noticed the accused entering his yard armed with a machete.
The complainant started to lock up his house and was closing a door when he was attacked and chopped on the left hand.
