Government minister Delano Seiveright warns public against fake investment video

Government minister Delano Seiveright is distancing himself from a video circulating on social media platforms promoting an investment opportunity, describing it as false and generated using artificial intelligence (AI).

"The video is entirely false and unauthorised. Minister Seiveright has absolutely no connection to the video, the individuals responsible for its creation or distribution, or any investment opportunity, financial scheme, product, or service being promoted," a statement from the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce said on Friday.

Seiveright is the State Minister in the ministry.

"I urge Jamaicans at home and in the diaspora to exercise extreme caution and not be misled by online content falsely suggesting my endorsement of any venture or investment opportunity," he said.

The ministry indicated that the matter has been reported to the relevant social media platforms and authorities, and efforts are under way to have the content removed and those responsible identified.

"Anyone who encounters the video is encouraged to report it immediately, refrain from sharing it, and verify information only through official Government of Jamaica and ministry communication channels," the ministry said.
