The iconic Richie's Bargain Store on Duke Street in Falmouth, Trelawny, was among four properties that were destroyed by a fire earlier today.
"I don't know what to say. Everything is gone," Melrose Cummings, the daughter of the store's owner, Daphne Richards, told The Gleaner.
The store has been operating since 1972.
Cummings said the fire has left her distraught.
Assistant Commissioner of the Jamaica Fire Brigade's Area Two Division, Roland Walters, said firefighters received a report of the blaze about 10:00 a.m. and that a team was deployed to tackle the fire.
" When we arrived, the building was engulfed. Help was sought from St Ann and St James. We fought the fire until 3:00 p.m. By then, four buildings were destroyed. They include a bar, a club, the textile store and a dwelling. Two persons are now homeless," Walters told The Gleaner.
Walters said investigations into the cause of the fire will commence.
