“ We worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, we’ll try again.” Luke 5:5

Your season of fruitless labour is coming to an end. From now on, you will begin to see meaningful results from your efforts. You shall reap a reward for your years of hard work and investment.

Consider what happened at the Sea of Galilee. Peter and his fellow fishermen went out with their boats, nets, and high expectations of a successful catch. Yet, after a full night of labour, they caught nothing. Discouraged and exhausted, they returned to shore and began washing their nets before heading home.

Then Jesus arrived. He stepped into Peter’s boat and used it to teach the crowd. Afterward, He instructed Peter to return to the water and let down his net again. Peter responded, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”

Despite his disappointment, Peter chose obedience. That decision changed everything.

Today, I encourage you to do the same. Try again. The breakthrough that seemed impossible may now be within reach.

Before we continue, let us consider the meaning of toiling. To toil is to work long and hard while experiencing difficulty, struggle, and little reward. It is giving much effort but seeing few results. Many people live under these conditions. They work diligently but have little to show for their labour. Others do everything right but repeatedly encounter disappointment.

If this describes your situation, I pray that every force working against your progress will be broken in the name of Jesus.

Peter and his companions had done everything necessary for success. They had the right equipment, experience, timing, and knowledge. Fishing was their livelihood, and they understood the sea. Yet, none of their expertise produced results that night.

Does this reflect your life? Have you done all that is required but still see little progress? Have you invested your time, energy, and resources without receiving the expected outcome? If so, I pray that every spirit of frustration and unproductive labour will leave your life in Jesus’ name.

Toiling and the Night Season

There is also a spiritual lesson in the connection between toiling and the night.

In Scripture, night often represents difficulty, uncertainty, fear, and sorrow. It is associated with seasons of waiting, confusion, and adversity. Yet, the Bible also reminds us that “weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning”.

Perhaps you are experiencing a night season in your relationships, business, health, family, career, ministry, or faith. Perhaps you have struggled for a long time without seeing the desired results.

Take courage. Your morning is coming.

Because you have encountered this message and chosen to believe God’s promises, I pray that every burden making your life difficult will be removed. Every power that has caused you to work harder while gaining less will be destroyed in the name of Jesus.

The Solution Appears

As Peter and the other fishermen prepared to go home, having accepted what seemed to be failure, Jesus arrived.

He asked Peter to lend Him his boat. Peter agreed.

After teaching the crowd, Jesus instructed Peter to return to the same sea and cast his net once more. Nothing about the circumstances appeared different. It was the same fisherman, the same boat, the same net, and the same water.

The difference was the presence of Jesus and Peter’s willingness to obey.

When Peter followed that instruction, the catch was so great that the nets began to break and the boats nearly sank.

Every creature responds to its Creator. When God speaks, circumstances can change instantly. Obedience positions us to experience His favour and intervention.

What is God asking you to surrender today? Is it your pride, fear, doubts, plans, or even your life? As Peter gave Jesus his boat, you, too, must place what you have in God’s hands.

Your breakthrough may be connected to your willingness to obey.

Do not delay. Respond today.

Your Years of Toiling Are Over

I declare that every effort you make from this day forward will produce positive results. May you receive the reward due for your labour. May the favour and power of God remove every trace of fruitless struggle from your life.

May doors open where there were previously obstacles. May opportunities replace disappointment. May diligence, wisdom, and divine favour work together to bring increase into your life.

Most importantly, if you have not yet committed your life to Jesus Christ, this is an opportunity to do so. Turn to Him today. Confess your sins, ask for His forgiveness, and invite Him to be Lord and Saviour of your life.

God is able to transform every situation. Just as He turned Peter’s failure into abundance, He can also turn your season of disappointment into a testimony of victory.

Try again.

Trust Him again.

Believe again.

Your breakthrough may be closer than you think.
