Man disarms cop, steals service pistol in St Andrew

The police are searching for a man who disarmed a policeman who responded to a break-in at a premises in St Andrew and reportedly stole the cop’s service pistol.

It is reported that on Monday afternoon, the policeman responded to a case of housebreaking and robbery with aggravation at a property along Whittington Way, Kingston 8.

It is further reported that the policeman accosted the man and that there was a tussle, during which the suspect reportedly overpowered the cop and punched him in the face.

The man also reportedly disarmed the policeman of his loaded service pistol.

The hoodlum allegedly pointed the weapon at the policeman before fleeing on foot in the area.

The police say the man is being sought and are probing a case of larceny of a firearm, assaulting the police and resisting arrest.

Meanwhile, the police’s Inspectorate of Professional Standard Oversight Bureau is also probing the incident.
