Woman arrested, charged in Westmoreland over alleged illegal lottery operation

The Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission is reporting that a woman was arrested and charged in Westmoreland on Wednesday during a crackdown on illegal lottery operations.
The commission says the operation, which was supported by the police, was conducted in Farm district in Smithfield.
It says the woman was allegedly engaged in the sale of an illegal lottery.
She was subsequently charged with breaches of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act and offered station bail in the sum of $100,000.
She is scheduled to appear in court in December.
The commission is reminding individuals and businesses to comply with the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act and all applicable regulations.
It says participating in or facilitating unauthorised betting, gaming or lottery activities may result in enforcement action and prosecution.
