St Catherine Minister of Religion accused of sexual assault of woman granted $700,000 bail

The St Catherine Minister of Religion who is being accused of sexually assaulting a woman whom he offered employment was on Tuesday granted $700,000 bail with a surety.
The 45-year-old man is charged with grievous sexual assault, forcible detention with intent to commit sexual intercourse, and forcible abduction.
In granting bail, the judge ordered the man to report to the police three times weekly.
The matter will again be mentioned on December 4.
Allegations are that the man met the woman in the Corporate Area and promised her employment.
It is being further alleged that on August 7 and August 16, he lured her to his dwelling in Portmore, St Catherine, took her cell phone, detained her inside the house and sexually assaulted her on both occasions.
The complainant made a report to the police’s Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA).
Following the investigation, the man was arrested and was formally charged after a question-and-answer session.
