New JP Logistics Centre targets faster, more connected cargo movement

As global trade becomes increasingly complex and freight costs remain vulnerable to geopolitical disruption, Jamaican businesses are placing greater value on logistics providers that can coordinate quickly across markets.

JP Logistics Solutions, a member of the Pan Jamaica Logistics Group, is responding to those demands with the opening of a Logistics Service Centre at the Total Logistics Facility in Newport West, Kingston.

The facility accommodates customs clearance for personal effects and commercial cargo arriving at the Port of Kingston. The new centre places JP Logistics Solutions within one of Jamaica’s main logistics corridors and closer to key partners, including its longstanding local agent, Jamaica Freight and Shipping Company Limited.

The location is expected to improve customer support, strengthen operational coordination and expedite the movement of time sensitive cargo. It will support the company’s freight forwarding, transportation, warehousing and freight consolidation operations for businesses and individuals engaged in international trade.

The centre will also serve as a starting point for Jamaican customers seeking global logistics solutions and opportunities to manage freight costs, which have risen amid geopolitical conflicts and disruptions to major trade routes.

Valrie Campbell, managing director of Pan Jamaica Logistics Group, said the centre represents an investment in the company’s customers and the future of its logistics business.

“As trade continues to evolve, our focus is on building an increasingly connected and efficient logistics network that allows us to provide seamless, end-to-end solutions across multiple markets,” she said.

Campbell also announced that the wider Pan Jamaica Logistics Group intends to introduce customs brokerage services and additional local customer support activities before the end of 2026.

The Kingston centre will complement the company’s established service centre in the United Kingdom, enabling teams to coordinate shipping projects across Asia, Europe and the Americas despite differences in international time zones.

Gary Phillips, managing director of JP Logistics Solutions, said the company’s approach was shaped by its early experience managing highly time-sensitive banana exports to Europe. Those operations required precision, consistent quality and careful cost management, standards the company now intends to apply to a wider range of cargo moving into and out of Jamaica.

Formerly JP Shipping and RAM Shipping, the company rebranded in 2022 following the acquisition of its Miami location. It has since expanded its international presence through operations in Kingston and Shenzhen, China, while adding procurement services and developing a mobile application.

The new centre is expected to strengthen JP Logistics Solutions’ ability to connect Jamaican customers with markets in the United States, the United Kingdom and Asia, while providing faster decision-making and closer coordination across its logistics network.
