Jamaica’s Shane Pitter (front) and Junior Harris start for a two-man bobsled run at the 2026 Winter Olympics, in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, on Monday.

Jamaica’s bobsled pilot, Shane Pitter, will now turn his attention to the four-man bobsled, where the country will have its last chance of making a final at this year’s Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games.

Yesterday in the two-man bobsled, Pitter and brakeman Junior Harris finished 22nd overall at the Eugenio Monti Sliding Centre.

The duo tallied a combined time of two minutes, 49.37 seconds (2:49.37) to finish just outside the top 20.

By failing to make it into the top 20, it also meant the duo failed to advance to the fourth and final heat of the competition.

Germany completed a full-sweep of the podium positions in a dominant display across the two days of competition.

It was the second consecutive Winter Olympic Games that the nation has swept the podium, making history in the event.

They took the gold medal with the pair of Johannes Lochner and Georg Fleischhauer in 3:39.70.

They picked up the silver medal with Francesco Friedrich and Alexander Schuller, 3:41.04, while Adam Ammour and Alexander Schaller took the bronze medal in 3:41.52.

Jamaica started their run on Monday with a time of 56.68 in heat one and closed off the day with a time of 56.72.

Needing major improvement to move into the top 20, and a spot in the final heat, Jamaica fell short despite clocking 55.97, their fastest time.

Four-man training sessions will begin today at 4 a.m. Jamaica time, and will continue through to Friday with two sessions per day.

The first two heats of the event are set for Saturday, with heat three and heat four set to be completed on Sunday.

Pitter will again lead the team as pilot, with Harris, Tyquendo Tracey, Andrae Dacres, and Joel Fearon as his crew.

Jamaica’s best result in the event came in 1998 when the team finished 14th overall.

The country’s other athletes at the Cortina Games, Henry Rivers and Mica Moore have already finished competing.

Moore finished 14th in the women’s mono bob, while Rivers suffered at the hands of bad weather, failing to finish his heat in the men’s slalom.
