Tru-Juice, distributed by Trade Winds Citrus Limited, has injected $7 million into the Tru-Juice Football Club, based in Linstead, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to organised football and structured youth development.
The announcement was made at the club’s official media launch last Friday, when company leaders outlined a clear objective to strengthen the programme, build competitive depth, and support the club’s push towards their goal of qualifying for the Jamaica Premier League.
Lauren Mahfood, marketing manager at Trade Winds Citrus Limited, speaking at the launch, described the investment as deliberate and rooted in community.
“Seven million dollars reflects our deep commitment to supporting sports, strengthening communities, and investing in the men who represent this club with pride,” she said.
“We are committed to helping build opportunities right here where we live, where dreams begin, and where teamwork is taught and celebrated.”
She underscored football’s role in shaping young men beyond the field of play.
“Football builds character, discipline, teamwork, and resilience. The players of this club show dedication and unity every time they step onto the pitch, and that is something we are proud to stand behind.”
Peter McConnell, managing director, Trade Winds Citrus Limited, who has been associated with the club since its early years, pointed to its steady progression through the divisions as evidence of disciplined structure and consistent backing.
“We started in Division Two, won Division Two, then Division One, then Major League,” McConnell said.
“The only way we are going to get to the Premier League is that we need to bring in more sponsors, so that we can build the structure around these young men.”
He emphasised that organised football provides life lessons that extend beyond competition.
“What you get out of your time as a footballer in a structured, organised, team-based way will pave the way for a better life. There is life after football.”
The $7-million commitment will support player development, operational costs, and the club’s broader competitive ambitions as it continues to position itself for advancement.
With renewed corporate confidence, the Tru-Juice Football Club enters the new season with strengthened backing and clear intent.
