Jackson back on top, Seville storms to first national 100m title

A supremely confident Shericka Jackson regained the national women's 100 metres title while hot favourite Oblique Seville won his first men's crown at the National Stadium on Friday night, day two of the 2026 JAAA/Puma Jamaica National Senior and Junior Championships.
Jackson, the 2024 winner who was competing in the event for the first time this season, pegged back defending champion Tina Clayton to clock 10.81 seconds and become the 12th Jamaican woman this season to go sub-11 seconds.
Clayton was second in 10.85 while Jonielle Smith ended third in a personal best 10.94.
Former 100m champion Elaine Thompson Herah did not report for the final after finishing third in her semi-final.
World champion Seville eased to victory in the men's race in a season's best 9.82. Nineteen-year-old Gary Card of the University of Technology finished second in a national junior record 9.93 while Ackeem Blake was third in 9.94. Nishon Ebanks finished fourth in 9.99.
In the first 100m final of the night, Malayia Duncan, competing unattached, won the Under-18 girls event in 11.82 ahead of Edwin Allen High's Daniela Clarke, who was second in 11.87. Veneisha Pottinger of Mount Alvernia High was third in 11.93.
Holland High's Shanoya Douglas continued her impressive form this season after coming from behind to beat Theianna-Lee Terrelonge of Uptimum Track Club in the Under-20 girls' 100m. Douglas clocked 11.08. Terrelonge ended second in 11.18 with Natrece East of Wolmer's Girls third in 11.46.
Jamaica College sprinters were in great form at the meet. They had one-two finishes in both the Under-18 and Under-20 100 metres. Kai Kelly won the Under-18 event in 10.50 ahead of teammate Tylee Morgan, second in 10.59. Michael Graham of Excelsior was third in 10.64.
Nathaniel Martin won the Under-20 boys' 100m in 10.37, ahead of training partner Dantae Watson (10.39). Nyrone Wade of Kingston College was third in 10.43. Overseas-based Justin Stewart, son of former national sprinters Raymond Stewart and Beverley McDonald, ended fourth in 10.46.
