McKay secure third KO title

MCKAY Security on Saturday won an unprecedented third consecutive Kingston and St Andrew Business House Football Association Knockout crown, defeating Seprod 2-0 at Constant Spring, starting what coach Aurane Phoenix predicts will be a clean sweep of titles this season.

Javier Wilmott netted in the 17th and Locksley Thompson converted a 70th-minute penalty for the security men, who have already turned their attention to Friday’s Division One semi-final against GraceKennedy.

Champions of last year’s Raymond Quallo Challenge Cup for division winners and knockout champs, Phoenix said McKay Security aim to reverse an early-season 0-1 loss to GraceKennedy in the second game of Friday’s Constant Spring double-header, starting at 8 p.m, following Seprod and NHT’s 6 p.m. clash.

“We’ve lost three games this season and won’t lose another,” said Phoenix. “We lost against NHT, Jamaica Customs and GraceKennedy, which was our second match of the season, a header in the 89th minute after missing a penalty 15 minutes earlier.

“We totally outplayed GraceKennedy but just didn’t score our chances,” he added.

“We are going to win all the titles this season. We are confident. Last year, we were unbeaten until losing our semi-final match to NHT in the 93rd minute. We had the best defensive record in the league, conceding eight goals from 17 matches,” Phoenix pointed out.

McKay are seeking to regain the Division One crown they won in their first season, 2023, beating Petrojam 5-3 penalties.
