GROS ISLET, St Lucia (CMC):

The Windward Islands Volcanoes franchise has made the move to the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia, where it will be based for the next three years.

The Volcanoes were previously headquartered in Arnos Vale, St Vincent since 2023. The franchise has also been based in Dominica and Grenada.

The move to Saint Lucia is set to happen on October 1, with a memorandum of understanding between St Lucia’s Department of Youth Development and Sports and the Windward Islands Cricket Board (WICB) set to be signed on Friday.

Interestingly, last month the franchise announced a head coaching vacancy after Kenroy Peters stepped down.

Having the Volcanoes based in St Lucia is expected to provide a big boost for cricket on the island, with players such as Ackeem Auguste, Keon Gaston, Kimani Melius, Noelle Leo and Shadrack Descarte set to benefit from top-level training at home.

Additionally, the presence of a full-time professional franchise will create a clear development path, providing young players and local coaches with the opportunity to train with top regional players and improve their skills.
