India beat West Indies by 8 wickets in first ODI

The West Indies went down by eight wickets to India in the first of their three-match One Day International (ODI) series in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
Batting first, the West Indies posted 296, built around Justin Greaves' composed 101.
But the total proved well short as India raced to 300 for 2 in 41.4 overs to move 1-0 up in the series.
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put on 75 for the opening wicket before Gill and Virat Kohli added an unbroken 150 for the second, with Kohli finishing unbeaten on 139 and Gill compiling 110.
The pair's dominance overshadowed a Windies bowling effort that offered periods of promise but ultimately could not apply sustained pressure.
Kuldeep Yadav's four-wicket haul was central to keeping India's task manageable and denying the Windies a platform to push the total further.
The West Indies will now look to regroup before the second ODI, needing a response with both bat and ball if they are to level the series.
