A Westmoreland man has been charged with murder following a stabbing incident that claimed the life of a fellow resident earlier this month.

Charged is 31-year-old cabinet maker Shaun Paul Palmer, otherwise called ‘Feather,’ of Poppy Street.

Dead is 39-year-old construction worker Omar Vanhorne, otherwise called ‘Jacko,’ of Georges Plain.

The police report that about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, Palmer allegedly used a knife to stab Vanhorne in the chest during an altercation in their community.

The wounded man was assisted to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Palmer was arrested the following day and was formally charged on Sunday, April 11, after investigators recorded witness statements that implicated him in the fatal incident.

His court date is now being finalised.
