Zachary Carter of West Indies celebrates after reaching his century during the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 match against South Africa at the High Performance Oval in Windhoek, Namibia on January 22.

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC):

Hard-hitting teenage opener Zachary Carter has signed to play for the Desert Vipers in this year’s ExxonMobil Global Super League (GSL) tournament.

The 19-year-old left-handed Barbadian will make his debut in the T20 competition following an impressive outing at this year’s ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in Namibia, where he represented the West Indies.

In one of the standout performances of the World Cup, Carter smashed eight sixes and eight fours in a magnificent knock of 114 off 104 balls against South Africa, to propel them to a crucial 55-run win that secured a Super Six spot.

He will join fellow Barbadians Kyle Mayers and Ramon Simmonds, along with Trinidadian Khary Pierre in the squad for the tournament that will run from July 23 to August 1 at the Guyana National Stadium.
