Johnnie Walker raises a glass to fathers with 3 signature cocktails at Ivy 23

Father’s Day is a moment to honour the men who keep showing up, keep providing, keep guiding, and keep walking through every season of life with strength, pride, and purpose. This year, Johnnie Walker is celebrating fathers and father figures with three specially crafted cocktails at Ivy 23, located at 23 Lady Musgrave Road in St Andrew. 

The three cocktails: smoken cinnamon, Johnnie apple and Walker sour, each bring a different expression of Johnnie Walker Black Label to the glass, offering fathers a chance to enjoy the whisky in a way that feels fresh, flavourful and celebratory.

For Chantall Headley, mixologist at Ivy 23, the inspiration behind the cocktails comes from the character of Johnnie Walker Black Label itself. “Johnnie Walker has always represented movement, resilience and progress,” Headley shared. “For Father’s Day, I wanted to create cocktails that feel strong but approachable, refined but still easy to enjoy. Each drink has its own personality, just like the fathers we are celebrating.”

SMOKEN CINNAMON

Warm, bold and aromatic, smoken cinnamon is the kind of cocktail made for the father who appreciates a drink with character. The honey cinnamon syrup adds a rich sweetness, while the bitters and lime juice bring balance to the smoky notes of the Johnnie Walker Black Label. 

INGREDIENTS

1.5oz Johnnie Walker Black Label
3 dashes bitters
1oz homemade honey cinnamon syrup
1oz lime juice
Cinnamon stick for garnish

DIRECTIONS

Add Johnnie Walker Black Label, bitters, honey cinnamon syrup and lime juice to a shaker with ice. Shake well until chilled, then strain into a glass. Garnish with a cinnamon stick for a warm, aromatic finish. 

 

 

JOHNNIE APPLE

Crisp, bright and fruit-forward, Johnnie apple brings a lighter twist to Johnnie Walker Black Label. The apple liqueur adds fruitiness, while the lime juice keeps the cocktail fresh and lively. Finished with candied ginger, the cocktail has a subtle kick that makes it memorable.

INGREDIENTS

1.5oz Johnnie Walker Black Label
1oz apple liqueur
1oz clear syrup
1oz lime juice
Candied ginger for garnish

DIRECTIONS

Add Johnnie Walker Black Label, apple liqueur, clear syrup, and lime juice to a shaker with ice. Shake until well chilled, then strain into a glass. Garnish with candied ginger.

WALKER SOUR

A refined take on a classic sour, the Walker sour is layered and full of depth. Johnnie Walker Black Label, lime juice, and syrup are shaken together to create a smooth base, then topped with red wine for a rich finish that adds colour, complexity, and sophistication.

INGREDIENTS

1.5oz Johnnie Walker Black Label
1oz clear syrup
1oz lime juice
1.5oz red wine
Mint sprigs for garnish

DIRECTIONS

Add Johnnie Walker Black Label, clear syrup, and lime juice to a shaker with ice. Shake well until chilled, then strain into a glass. Carefully layer the red wine on top by slowly pouring it over the back of a spoon. Garnish with mint sprigs.
