A 19-year-old St Elizabeth man has been charged with the chopping-murder of one of his brothers, and wounding of his mother and another sibling following a dispute on Saturday, the police say.

Lorenzo Williams, of Stephenson Town, Seaview in the parish, is accused of killing his 21-year-old brother, Travis Williams, and attacking his 43-year-old mother and 14-year-old brother.

According to police reports, at about 12:30 a.m., family members were at home when an argument developed.

It is alleged that Williams became enraged and used a machete to inflict multiple chop wounds on his brother, as well as injuries to his mother and younger brother.

The police were summoned and the two were taken to hospital, where Travis Williams was pronounced dead.

Williams was later held by citizens at the scene and handed over to the police, the statement added.
